¡Sí Se Puede! We will keep organizing for the Biden-Harris immigration protections for mixed-status families!

Thanks to tireless organizing efforts, the Biden-Harris administration recently opened applications for parole-in-place protections to hundreds of thousands of immigrant families across the country, including an estimated 20-30,000 in Illinois.

On August 26, 2024 Judge J. Campbell Barker of Texas issued an administrative stay preventing USCIS from granting Parole In Place (PIP) under the new program.

We continue to fight for our families to stay together and for the 30,000 immigrants across Illinois who qualify for the Biden-Harris administration’s parole-in-place protections.

THE LATEST UPDATES:

  • The court issued a temporary administrative stay, pausing the approval of Parole in Place.
  • The initial stay is 14 days and can be extended.
  • You can still submit applications.

We encourage you to continue seeking legal services and attending a consultation to evaluate your case and options as advocates and the administration fight for immigrant families in court.

We will post updates on this website and The Resurrection Project’s social channels as this situation develops.

BEWARE OF SCAMMERS

Notarios or other scammers take advantage of changes in immigration law to defraud immigrants in need of help. Contact a reputable organization like  The Resurrection Project, the Chicago Workers Collaborative, the National Immigrant Justice Center, or a private immigration attorney before submitting anything to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), or any other federal agency.

What Does the Temporary Stay Mean?

  • The stay stops USCIS from granting Parole in Place, but not from accepting applications
  • Individuals can still apply for PIP, but no decisions will be issued by USCIS while the stay is in place.
  • The initial stay is 14 days and can be extended
  • We are encouraging folks to continue seeking out legal services and registering for a 1:1 consultation to evaluate their individual case and options.

You May Be Eligible If You…
